About

Food is the most common talked about topic in my family. It does not merely fill our stomachs but it brings the family together. My extended family is the classic example of the different racial groups in Singapore - Chinese, Malay, Indian and Others. We celebrate every festival there is in Singapore and that involves lots of food.

I was spoilt rotten by my aunts' and cousins' cooking. Since I never had to lift a finger to make myself a meal, living abroad was a struggle. I craved for homecooked food that I am used to but I did not know how to cook them.  That was when I started to plough through vast information available on the internet for recipes to recreate a sense of "home" in a foreign land. While there are plenty of really good recipes out there, there are also terrible ones which I have wasted my time on.

Over the years I got better at cooking. I may not be a chef but cooking on a daily basis made me a better cook. I started Yoyo's Kitchen Adventures with the aim to share the really good recipes that I have tried and tested. Here you will find healthy, delicious and affordable meals. You will find me consistently emphasising on the importance of quality and healthy food. I do not believe in saving a few pennies to eat junk at the expense of my health.

The kitchen is my second favourite place at home (coming in first is my bedroom) as this is where I allow myself to get creative. Fear not if you’re a novice in the kitchen. I’ve made some silly mistakes in there but that did not stop me from cooking. We learn from our mistakes and we can only get better with practice. Recipes aren’t set in stone so if you think another ingredient works better feel free to substitute it. Let your creative juices flow and just have fun in the kitchen.

On Yoyo's Kitchen Adventures, I blog as someone who loves my food, photography and writing. Just like any of you, I have bills and rent to pay. This makes me fully aware of the importance of budgeting. At the same time, I know that budgeting doesn’t mean eating takeaways or simply piling carbohydrates on the plate. Life’s too short to not enjoy good food.

I hope that through Yoyo's Kitchen Adventures I will be able to experiment more with cooking, improve my photography skills and be an eloquent writer.

Thank you for visiting Yoyo's Kitchen Adventures and I hope you will have fun here! If you're interested more about Yoyo, please do follow me at www.chroniclesofyoyo.com where I blog more about my life and travels.

Cheers,
Yolande @ Yoyo's Kitchen Adventures
